Google announced that it would be deleting accounts that have been “inactive” for at least two years. Inactive accounts are more likely to be compromised, the company said.
So if you have a Google Account that hasn’t been used in recent years, it could be deleted under a new Google policy. Any Google Account that has been inactive for two years is eligible for deletion. This includes accounts that are not used or signed in to.
Google may delete the account and its content, including the content of the Gmail, Docs, Drive, Meet, Calendar and Google Photos apps associated with the account. Google stated that it currently does not plan to remove accounts containing YouTube videos.
Only individual Google Accounts will be removed. School or business accounts will not be affected. People with an existing membership who use a Google Account are considered to have an active account.
